"And say [unto them]: Act! Allah will behold your actions, and [so will] His messenger and the believers."
God is directly requesting us to do good deeds, so this serves as our main source of inspiration and drive. With God as our prime focus, leaving aside the motives of any material gain or worldly status, we work purely for His sake, and aim to attain a status with God in this world that is pleasing to Him.
“Work for a better life as if you will live forever, and work for a better end [hereafter] as if you will die tomorrow”. Imam Ali (AS)
Whenever we do things we should endeavour to carry out our worldly tasks with firmness, foundation, and basis. Even though we will not live here forever, we must work as if we will, so that our work is lasting, solid and flourishing. When we pass onto the life thereafter, others will be able to benefit from our labour. We will also leave this world with a clear conscience, knowing that we did our best. Our Prophet (peace be upon him and his progeny) has said: “God the Exalted loves it when one of you takes on a task and performs it well.” This serves as our vision to constantly strive and endeavour to do things in the right way and to the best of our ability.
“Surely there was a good example for you in the Messenger of Allah, for all those who look forward to Allah and the Last Day and remember Allah much.” (Quran 33:21)
This verse emphasises that Muslims should take the Prophet's (peace be upon him and his progeny) life as a model for themselves in every affair of life and should mould their character and conduct according to it. He was a perfect example of an honest, just, merciful, compassionate, truthful and brave human being. He, like other Prophets before him, did not have any evil characteristics and strove solely for the sake of God. Our mission at Muslim Care is based on the teaching and actions of the Prophet and it is most surely a model for the person who is hopeful of Allah’s grace and His favours in the next world.
