Home care packages are designed to help those with greater or more complex care needs. Eligibility
Before you are assessed, you must meet the following criteria to be eligible for HCP services. My Aged Care will then either refer you directly to services, organise a free face-to-face assessment or for more complex needs, conduct a comprehensive assessment by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT).
- An old senior who needs coordinated services to help you stay at home.
- Or a younger person with a disability, dementia or other care needs not met through other specialist services.

Buying food (unless required), residential purchases, payment for permanent accommodation; mortgage, rent, home care fees, services/items covered by Medicare Benefits Scheme or Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme and any other fees funded/jointly funded by the Australian Government. Home modifications (unless required), travel & accommodation (domestic/international), entertainment activities; club memberships, online subscriptions, etc.
How much will it cost?
Home Care Package Plan
You don’t have to go through the procedures of understanding and managing your assigned HCP alone. We dedicate our expertise and time to help you understand and Tailor your package to your needs. We promise you a clear transparent communication of:
- The care and services you will receive as part of your service agreement.
- Your budget, and how much you can expect to pay.
- When your services are delivered, as part of your schedule.
- Details about the management and coordination of your services.
Government Contribution
The Australian government provides subsidies (funding) for home care services through Home Care Packages and the Commonwealth Home Support Programme, which make up the majority of a client’s home care budget - these are referred to as subsidies and supplements.
Client Contribution
Government funding does not always cover the entire cost of services needed and depending on your income, you may have to make a client contribution. These additional costs are referred to as fees. There are two types of fees that you may need to pay depending on your circumstances: a Basic Daily Fee, or an Income-tested Care Fee which is calculated by the Government.
